The contract of 22-year-old English defender/defensive midfielder Clinton Mola with VfB Stuttgart has been terminated one year early by mutual consent. The Swabians confirmed the release of the former Chelsea academy man on Saturday morning. Since joining Stuttgart in the January 2020 transfer window, Mola made just four top tier appearances with his German side.Mola did feature eight times for the VfB during the second half of the 2019/20 2. Bundesliga campaign.
Recently returned from a season spent on loan with Blackburn Rovers in his native country, Mola couldn’t establish himself much in head-coach Sebastian Hoeneß’ summer training camp. He did see some limited action in the EFL Championship (nine appearances) during the first half of last season, but quickly faded out of selection for head-coach Jan Dahl Tomasson’s match-day squads. Heavily capped at various English youth levels, the youngster maintains an estimated market worth of €500,000 in the latest transfermarkt listings.
