West Ham United have submitted a first bid to Rennes to sign their sought-after right-sided winger Jérémy Doku (21), according to a report this Sunday from Foot Mercato.
The 21-year-old Belgium international is poised to leave Brittany and become Stade Rennais’ club-record sale. The race to sign Doku is heating up as the French publication understands that Rennes have rejected the Hammers’ first offer. Manchester City are also said to be pursuing Doku as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who left the Etihad Stadium for PIF-funded Al-Ahli. It has been reported that Doku had already agreed a five-year contract with Pep Guardiola’s side.
West Ham’s first bid has been rejected by the Ligue 1 side, however, Foot Mercato reports that talks are set to continue between the Hammers and the Bretons. The French outlet understands that Rennes won’t let go of their electric winger for less than €55m and that talks between West Ham and AFC Ajax continue for the signing of Ghana international Mohamed Kudus. West Ham, who have defeated Chelsea FC 3-1 this Sunday in the Premier League, are reportedly in the market for a centre-forward.
