Having been left out of the Paris Saint-Germain squad to face Toulouse tonight, Marco Verratti appears closer than ever to leaving after 11 years in the French capital.
While he was reportedly keen to stay in Europe – Chelsea were said to be interested – the Italian is now likely to be the latest high-profile player to make the move to Saudi Arabia. According to L’Équipe this afternoon, the Euro 2020 winner was reached an agreement over a contract Al-Ahli, as has already been the case with Al-Hilal – the club where Neymar now plays.
The latter club’s opening offer of €30m was turned down by the Ligue 1 champions, while Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested. Verratti was among the group of players who were told by club management to find new teams at the start of the month. With Paris Saint-Germain, he has won a record nine French titles and featured 412 times in all competitions.
