Napoli have reached a total agreement with Celta Vigo over the signing of young sensation Gabri Veiga, reports Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
After several rounds of negotiations, the Partenopei have finally received the green light from the La Liga outfit for Veiga’s services.
The Serie A champions will pay Celta a fixed fee of €30 million with €6 million in add-ons.
Veiga will undergo his medical tests once the documents are sorted out between the two parties.
The 21-year-old was one of the breakout stars in the Spanish top-flight last season, netting 11 goals and four assists, accentuated by some top-notch performances against Barcelona and Real Betis.
Veiga, who was also part of Spain’s squad in the U21 Euros 2023, attracted interest from a host of European heavyweights, but Napoli emerged as the winners of the race.
Veiga was previously touted as a replacement for Piotr Zielinski, who, however, is now set to stay at the Diego Maradona Stadium amid heavy exit speculation.
The Polish midfielder’s move to Al-Ahli appeared to be imminent, but he has rejected the proposal from the Saudi giants at the lost moment and is now leaning towards penning a contract extension with the Neapolitans.
Veiga is set to become the fourth signing of the summer for Napoli following the arrivals of Natan, Jens Cajuste and Elia Caprile.
The Partenopei are also closing in on the contract extension of Victor Osimhen, with the new deal containing a release clause worth €150 million.
Rudi Garcia’s side will begin their title defence against Frosinone tomorrow.
