Leicester City set to sign Cesare Casadei on loan from Chelsea

Chelsea agree deal for Michael Olise

Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle with Crystal Palace to sign Michael Olise, according to RMC Sport. The player has also agreed to sign a long-term contract at Chelsea.

The playmaker will join the Blues for a fee worth around €40 million. He will return to Chelsea after passing through their youth team on his way to senior football.

Olise was at Chelsea’s academy from 2009-2016 before leaving for Manchester City and then Reading, where he made his senior team debut.

The French youth international left the Royals in 2021 after Crystal Palace activated his release clause worth just over £8 million.

Despite his young age, Olise made an instant impact and became a first-team fixture. He has since established himself in the top flight and is widely recognised as one of the most exciting attackers in the Premier League.

Last season, he netted twice and bagged 11 assists in 37 Premier League appearances.

However, he suffered an injury while on duty with the France Under-21 team at the European Championship and hasn’t featured this season.

In truth, he has been dealing with several injuries since his emergence, but Chelsea hope he can stay fit and fulfill his immense potential.

The West Londoners are continuing their spending spree following the addition of Moises Caicedo and the impending arrival of Romeo Lavia.

As much as Chelsea needed to sign a defensive midfielder, they also needed a spark in attack.

They need someone to unlock the opposition’s defence, and Olise has that quality in his arsenal.

Chelsea are poised to continue their summer spending even after signing Olise, as they are still in the market for a goalkeeper following the departure of Kepa Arrizabalaga.

They could also sign another attacker following the injury suffered by Christopher Nkunku.
