Kylian Mbappé still doesn’t want to renew his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, according to L’Équipe this afternoon. Despite reports indicating that the France captain could possibly renew his contract at the Parc des Princes, no discussions have taken place between PSG and the forward about him extending his stay at the club.
Mbappé has recently been brought back into first-team training with Luis Enrique’s squad, after spending an extended time training in the “loft” with PSG’s transfer-listed players. This resolution came after the club and player returned to speaking terms. The discussions did not include a conversation about the France forward signing a new deal with Les Parisens, and Mbappé still has the same stance regarding signing the one-year extension option to his contract.
The reasoning behind the 24-year-old’s sudden return to first-team training is unknown, but it suggests he conceded something that would improve the club’s vulnerable position of leaving him on a free transfer. Mbappé’s main aim during the discussions with the club was to return to the first team and play for the Ligue 1 champions again. Real Madrid have been long-term suitors for the former Monaco attacker, and are hoping to sign him on a free transfer in 2024.
