Harry Kane will be an asset to the Bundesliga

Bayern Munich announced the transfer of Harry Kane from Tottenham on Saturday morning. Not only is the English forward a massive transfer coup for the Rekordmeister, he will also be an asset for the Bundesliga.

Speaking about Kane’s arrival, Bayern President Herbert Hainer said: “Welcome to Munich, Harry Kane! We’re very happy about this top-quality new arrival. The transfer required tenacity, bite and perseverance – my compliments to all those involved in these negotiations at FC Bayern, led by our CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. Harry Kane will not only strengthen FC Bayern, but also be a real asset to the entire Bundesliga.”

Kane has penned a four-year contract at Bayern Munich, signing him to the reigning champions until 2027. It’s reported that the Englishman will earn around €25m per season at the Allianz Arena, a significant increase on his €12m salary at Tottenham. But not only is Kane one of Bayern’s highest earners, the Rekordmeister have broke their transfer record by a considerable margin to bring the 30-year-old to the club.

Bayern Munich have paid Tottenham an initial €100m, which could rise to a fee between €115m and €120m, dependent on bonuses. Bayern’s previous record arrival was French defender Lucas Hernandez from Atlético Madrid in 2019 for a reported €80m.

Although Bayern Munich didn’t struggle for goals last season, they missed that presence of a No. 9 in the penalty area following the departure of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona last summer. The arrival of Kane is certainly an adequate replacement but not only is the player a monstrous coup for Bayern, his arrival at the Allianz Arena showcases that the Bundesliga can in fact attract high-profile players.
