Manchester City’s opening offer for Lucas Paquetá (25) has been rejected by West Ham and according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the London club want a fee in excess of £85m for the Brazilian.
While West Ham would prefer to keep Paquetá after already losing Declan Rice – who joined Arsenal – this summer, they would be open to selling the Brazil international but only if an offer meets their valuation.
After a slow start to their transfer activity, West Ham have now agreed deals to sign Harry Maguire and James Ward-Prowse, as reported by Evening Standard, and are also expected to finalise a move for Ajax’s Edson Alvarez, a player who had concrete interest from Borussia Dortmund, but the Bundesliga side pulled out of a deal to sign the Mexican international.
It’s also noted by ES that West Ham are interested in signing Manchester City forward Cole Palmer, a player that may be used as a makeweight in City’s pursuit of Paquetá.
