After a move to Premier League side Burnley collapsed at the final hurdle, Ruhr Nachrichten are now reporting that Borussia Dortmund’s Soumaïla Coulibaly is set to join Belgian champions Royal Antwerp. Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing and it’s reported that the Frenchman’s move will be a loan deal with either an option, or obligation, to buy on a permanent basis.
Last month, Coulibaly was expected to join Burnley on a one-year loan deal with an obligation to buy of a reported fee between €15m and €17.5m. There had been a disagreement between the two teams which resulted Coulibaly’s move to England failing, despite undergoing a medical with Burnley.
Coulibaly has a Dortmund contract until 2026.
Soumaïla Coulibaly’s time at Borussia Dortmund
Coulibaly joined Borussia Dortmund from PSG in 2021, signing his first professional contract but has played just 61 minutes across two games for Die Schwarzgelben, one in the Champions League and the other in the Bundesliga. A prominent figure in BVB’s second team, the Frenchman played 25 games and also played four games in the UEFA Youth League.
