Sky Germany reports that 1.FC Köln midfielder Dejan Ljubicic has attracted interest from Wolfsburg who are pushing to sign the Austrian.
There has been no agreements between the two clubs yet but the transfer fee for the 25-year-old is likely to be in the region of €8-10m. It is also reported that Ljubicic has made known his ambitions to join Wolfsburg.
Ljubicic’s contract at the club expires in 2025 having joined Köln from Rapid Wien in 2021 on a free transfer. In his four years at the club, he has proven to be a versatile player playing across the midfield in his 65 games in the Dom Stadt.
The pursuit of Ljubicic could indicate that Wolfsburg are struggling to complete the signing of Rennes midfielder Lovro Majer whose price of €25m is seen as too expensive for the club. Wolfsburg are still yet to replace Felix Nmecha who joined Borussia Dortmund earlier on in the summer.
