Fabrizio Romano is reporting that AS Monaco and Juventus are nearing an agreement over the transfer of Denis Zakaria (26). Les Monégasques’ latest offer falls just short of the Serie A club’s evaluation.
Monaco are in the market for a midfielder this summer. The Principality club have already sold the peripheral Jean Lucas to Santos, and Youssouf Fofana may also yet leave. The France international has reportedly rejected the chance to join Premier League side Nottingham Forest. West Ham United have a long-standing interest, but they now look set to sign James Ward-Prowse.
Regardless of Fofana’s future, Monaco are looking to secure Zakaria, and an agreement is getting closer. According to Romano, Monaco have submitted an offer worth €22m for the Swiss international. Juventus are holding out for €25m, but the clubs are edging closer to a positive conclusion.
Adi Hütter, Monaco’s new manager, is pushing for the deal having worked with Zakaria at Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach.
