Leeds United have agreed a loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon, according to The Telegraph.
The deal is in its final stages as the clubs have an agreement in place. The 25-year-old will don the white of Leeds United for the 2023/24 season.
The move comes as Leeds United eye their resurgence back into the Premier League, and the Welsh international could play a crucial role in their hopes to conquer the second division.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke wants to fortify his defence for the upcoming campaign and identified Rodon as a target.
Also, Leeds have expressed interest in securing the services of Liverpool’s Nat Phillips. Rumours suggest they will move for him soon.
This interest in signing a new centre-back has taken on a newfound urgency following the sidelining of Liam Cooper.
The Leeds captain will be out of action for up to eight weeks following a foot injury sustained during their 2-2 draw against Cardiff City on Sunday.
After slipping down the pecking order at Spurs, Rodon finds himself in the shadows.
Rodon had come through Swansea’s academy before making his senior team debut in 2015. He made 54 appearances for the Welsh side before joining Spurs in 2020.
The Swansea-born star earned his first call-up for Wales in 2019 and has notched 36 caps.
After struggling to nail down a starting spot under Antonio Conte last season, Rodon went on loan to Ligue 1 side Rennes, but he did not convince the top brass at the French club.
He made only 16 appearances, and they were not enough to convince the club to activate the option to buy him permanently. He will head to Leeds to impress and hopefully earn enough game time.
As for Leeds, he will be their fourth senior team signing after adding Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea, Karl Darlow from Newcastle, and Sam Bryam for free after he left Norwich City.
