Lens interested in signing Michy Batshuayi

Having lost their top scorer from last season in Loïs Openda over the summer, Lens have been looking to bring in an established forward to lead the line ahead of a campaign that will see them fighting on both domestic and continental fronts. Openda’s replacement could end up being another Red Devils international.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Sang et Or are interested in signing former Marseille and Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi. The 29-year-old currently plays for Turkish side Fenerbahçe, and is said to be open to a move that would bring him closer to his family – Lens is just across the border from Belgium.

Last season, Batshuayi scored 20 goals in all competitions – a career-high tally since his Marseille days, having found he net 21 times for Les Phocéens during the 2015/16 campaign. A return to Ligue 1 – that would see him start for a Champions League outfit – could be the next step in his career renaissance.
