Atalanta plot shock hijack of Inter Milan target Gianluca Scamacca

There appears to be a late twist in the transfer saga of Gianluca Scamacca as Atalanta are looking to hijack Inter Milan’s pursuit of the Italian striker.

Scamacca’s move to Inter appeared to be only a matter of time after Nerazzurri had submitted an improved offer to West Ham United while also agreeing personal terms with the player.

However, La Dea are planning to throw a spanner in Inter’s works as they have also opened talks with both the Italian striker and the Premier League club.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia, the Bergamo-based club are willing to offer more than Inter, whose proposal stands at €24 million plus €4 million in bonuses.

A report from Sport Media Set details that Atalanta have tabled an offer worth €30 million, including bonuses – the fee West Ham have been demanding.

They have also offered Scamacca a salary of €3.2 million per season.

As it stands, the former Sassuolo man’s priority is joining Nerazzurri, but he is open to snubbing them for Atalanta should Inter fail to finalise a deal.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have already signed El Bilal Toure but are looking for more attacking reinforcements to cope with the departure of Rasmus Hojlund.

Scamacca’s saga turns out to be an eventful one, with the Azzurri international already turning down AS Roma despite initially expressing his desire to join them.

Inter don’t want to be the next casualty, and they have lined up alternatives should Scamacca’s deal fail to come to fruition.

The Nerazzurri are looking at Udinese’s Beto and Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun as potential targets.

Balogun has been heavily linked with a move from Arsenal to San Siro all summer, however, the differences over the transfer fee have been a stumbling block for Inter.
