Eintracht keeper Ramaj to Ajax on record deal

Eintracht Frankfurt back-up keeper Diant Rama’s transfer to Ajax Amsterdam is now confirmed. Multiple German footballing media sources reiterate that the 21-year-old has left the RheinMain metropolis for a record-breaking sum.

A rumored mega-deal involving Eintracht Frankfurt’s back-up keeper is now officially through. The SGE and Ajax Amsterdam confirmed the transfer of keeper Diant Ramaj on Thursday afternoon. German broadcaster “Sport1”, German tabloid “Sport Bild”, and Germany’s Kicker Magazine all report that former VfB Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat has paid a base-transfer-fee of €8 million for the Stuttgart-native.

“Diant Ramaj is a great German goalkeeper talent who we are very reluctant to let go,” Eintracht sporting director Markus Krösche is quoted as saying in a statement on the German club’s website, “In the end, we complied with Diant’s wish to move to a top European club and considered very attractive economic factors. Diant will go his way and we wish him only the best for his future.”

The 21-year-old’s new contract with his new Dutch side runs through 2028. If the rumors concerning the transfer fee are in fact true, €8 million is by far the greatest sum anyone has paid for a German goalkeeper with so little top-flight experience (two Bundesliga appearances) as Ramaj.
