Augsburg activated the purchase option to sign Mergim Berisha (25) on a permanent basis with a view to making a financial profit on the German forward, but a recent ankle injury has seen interest in the player remain sparse.
According to Kicker, Berisha has the ambition of joining a Serie A club, but would also be open to remaining in the Bundesliga should an opportunity at a European club arise. However, because of the forward’s current ankle injury, interested parties have become cautious and because the striker dominoes in Europe’s top leagues hasn’t started yet, Augsburg are yet to receive any concrete offers.
Should Berisha leave Augsburg, the Bundesliga club – who beat Ajax 3-1 in a friendly – can expect to receive a fee between €11m and €15m for the now Germany international. The 25-year-old, who spent last season on loan from Fenerbahçe, scored nine and created four in 23 Bundesliga games for FCA.
