Roma are in the process of reinforcing their attack and see Marcos Leonardo as a potential signing.
According to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma are searching for an additional striker upfront following the injury of Tammy Abraham and they have identified Santos’ Marcos Leonardo as a possible signing.
The capital club have noted that the operation for the Brazilian striker will be completely independent of Gianluca Scamacca’s transfer negotiations. Marcos Leonardo is expected to play a reserve attacking role in the squad.
The report states that the Giallorossi made an attempt to sign the 20-year-old in May but neighbourhood rivals Lazio soon interfered with a rumoured €12 million proposal before shifting their attention towards Valentin Castellanos.
Manager Jose Mourinho expects his side to resume their previous contact with the Brazilian club and make the transfer a reality.
Marcos Leonardo made his first-team debut in 2020, scoring 47 goals in 149 appearances for Santos. With seven goals in seven matches for Brazil U-20, he is seen as a bright prospect in the country to lead their first-team attack in the future.
