AC Milan have completed the acquisition of Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze for an initial €20 million plus a further €8m in add-ons.
The Nigerian international enjoyed his most productive season to date last time out where he racked up an impressive 13 goals and 11 assists across all competitions.
Blessed with immense dribbling ability and quick feet, Chukwueze is a more than worthy compensation for the departure of Brahim Diaz who recently returned to parent club Real Madrid after three years on loan at San Siro.
Chukwueze joins Milan as the seventh addition of the ongoing transfer market following the earlier arrival of Noah Okafor, Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic, Luka Romero, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Marco Sportiello.
Since selling Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United for €64m, Milan have been very active this summer and are expected to secure the signing of one more midfielder before the window runs with a deal for Valencia’s Yunus Musah drawing increasingly closer.
Having finished as the fourth-best team in Italy last time out, Stefano Pioli’s men have bolstered their squad to a significant extent as they look to record a second title in three years and enjoy another deep run into the Champions League next season.
Milan kicked off pre-season duty with a 7-0 thrashing of fourth tier side Lumezzane before suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid on Monday.
The Rossoneri will face off against Juventus on Friday in the first of four more warm-up fixtures before getting their 2023/24 Serie A campaign underway with a clash against Bologna on August 21.
