French PFA claims that PSG’s treatment of Kylian Mbappé could become “illegal”

The UNFP – Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels, the French equivalent of the PFA – has deemed PSG’s treatment of Kylian Mbappé could become “illegal“. The France skipper has been left out of the Luis Enrique-led squad that has flown to Japan for their pre-season summer tour in Asia. Mbappé is now training with the other players Paris Saint-Germain want rid of. Les Parisiens believe that the 24-year-old has an agreement with Real Madrid to join Real Madrid as as free agent. Meanwhile, PSG are prepared to accept a world-record €300m bid from PIF-funded Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal to sign Mbappé.

Speaking to RMC Sport, UNFP president Philippe Piat has claimed that by stopping Mbappé from training normally, PSG would not be operating within the confines of France’s labour laws. Should the situation which sees Mbappé sideelined from the senior squad continue, Piat said that the UNFP will be compelled to ask for the law to be respected. According to Piat, Mbappé must be allowed to train normally. The UNFP believe they can even possibly compel the club to field him. “Otherwise, it would be harassment“, Piat adds. “It would become illegal in terms of labor law.
