Bundesliga side Mainz are open to selling 25-year-old Spanish left-back Aarón Martín this summer with Bo Svensson having a preference to play Anthony Caci in the coming season, according to Florian Plettenberg.
M05 want between €5m and €7m for Martín, who joined the club from Espanyol in 2019 for €6m. The Spaniard played 31 games in all competitions last season and is entering the final year of his contract.
Should he leave the Bundesliga club, Martín wouldn’t be the only defender to leave Mainz this season. Jeremiah St. Juste joined Sporting CP for €10m whilst negotiations are ongoing with Nottingham Forest for the sale of Moussa Niakhaté, who is also entering the final year of his contract.
As for signings, M05 have been relatively quiet. They announced a deal for Strasbourg defender Anthony Caci in January, the Frenchman signing on a four-year contract.
Dominik Kohr also joins the club on a permanent basis from Eintracht Frankfurt whilst Marcus Ingvartsen joins from fellow Bundesliga side Union Berlin for just over €2m.
