Lazio are on the verge of sealing an agreement for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Swiss international has emerged as a surprise target for the Biancocelesti in their search for a replacement for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has moved to Al-Hilal this summer.
Fabrizio Romano also claims that a deal worth around €15 million, including add-ons, is being discussed between the two clubs.
Sow, 26, has been with Frankfurt since 2016, making 120 appearances in all competitions as well as being part of the side that lifted that Europa League in the 2021/22 season.
The Swiss midfielder’s contract runs out in the summer of 2024, and he has made up his mind about leaving Frankfurt for a new challenge.
Sow has been one of the underrated midfielders in the Bundesliga, and he will be a much-needed addition to the Italian capital giants.
Unlike Milinkovic-Savic, Sow’s attacking output is not at the highest level, but he is a quality central midfielder who possesses great passing range and is defensively solid.
Moreover, Sow will bring Champions League pedigree to the table, which would be vital for the Biancocelesti next season.
The Swiss star’s former Frankfurt teammate Daichi Kamada has also been linked with a move to Stadio Olimpico, however, Lazio have now decided to pull the plug on the deal.
Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri’s side are working to wrap up the deal for Dynamo Moscow midfielder Arsen Zakharyan, with the negotiations in the final stages.
The Biancocelesti have signed Argentine striker Valentin Castellanos and secured the contract extension of Pedro.
