Bild reports that Bayer Leverkusen are not interested in Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria, contrary to reports in Italy.
Gazzetta Dello Sport had reported that both Leverkusen and RB Leipzig are interested in the 26-year-old who is considered a surplus to requirements at Juventus. Zakaria’s contract at Juventus expires in 2026 and according to transfermarkt he is currently valued at €18m but if Juventus really want to sell the Swiss international he will likely go for less.
Zakaria joined Juventus in January 2022 for €10.1m from Borussia Mönchengladbach but has failed to assert himself in the team. The midfielder then spent last season on loan at Chelsea and once again failed to break into the first team at the club.
During his time at Gladbach, Zakaria played 146 times for the club playing in the Champions League as well as the Europa League. However, at the back end of the 2019/20 season, the 26-year-old suffered a serious knee injury which saw him miss eight months and the midfielder at times struggled upon his return in a declining Gladbach team.
