Kylian Mbappé unlikely to be convinced of Saudi move, Chelsea and Manchester United drop out of race

As part of an update on Kylian Mbappé’s transfer situation, French sports daily L’Équipe suggested that the PSG striker’s proposed move to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal remains difficult to imagine, but many other options are opening up for the Frenchman.

PSG accepted the Saudi Pro League side’s world record €300m offer for the player yesterday, but the Saudi club now needs to convince Mbappé that the move is the right one. This seems unlikely for now, as Mbappé has reportedly agreed to a move to Real Madrid ahead of his contract expiring next summer. Believing this to be true, PSG left the 24-year-old out of their Japan pre-season tour squad this week.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, Inter Milan, and Barcelona have all enquired about the player’s availability in the last two days, with United and Chelsea reportedly dropping out of the race already. Some of those clubs, however, foresee the chance of a loan deal for the coming season.

Mbappé, meanwhile, remains typically calm over the situation and has not opened the door to a move at all as yet. He informed the club that he would not be extending his deal and has no plans to leave this summer.
