Inter Milan are ramping up their efforts to hijack AS Roma target and West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca.
Scamacca endured a difficult debut season in the Premier League, failing to make it a smooth transition from Sassuolo.
The Italian striker wants to leave the Hammers after just a season in a bid to revive his career, with a return to Serie A being touted.
Jose Mourinho’s side have earmarked Scamacca as the priority and vice versa, as accentuated by the striker’s recent comments.
However, the Giallorossi’s financial difficulties are preventing them from putting together a deal, and they can afford only a loan option for the former Neroverdi striker.
It has opened the door for Inter, who, as reported by Sport Media Set, are planning to submit an offer in the region of €20 million to West Ham.
The Nerazzurri have intensified their search for a new striker after the talks to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea collapsed, with the Belgian striker surprisingly giving the go-ahead for a move to arch-rivals Juventus.
Scamacca has emerged as a potential candidate, and Inter are growing confident about fending off suitors for his signing.
Simone Inzaghi’s side have the financial resources to meet West Ham’s valuation thanks to the sale of Andre Onana to Manchester United.
Furthermore, only a mere part of the proceeds might be required to reinvest in Onana’s replacement Yann Sommer, who has a release clause worth €6m in his contract at Bayern Munich.
It means Inter will have the sustainability in the transfer market to focus on other signings.
Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Folarin Balogun are other potential striker targets for Inter.
