Sport Bild are reporting that while Marcel Sabitzer would be an expensive acquisition for Borussia Dortmund, the Black and Yellows could get a deal done.
Bayern Munich have placed a €12m-€18m price tag on the Austrian, which is certainly within Dortmund’s price range. Nonetheless, despite not being a top earner for Bayern, his €10m annual salary would be difficult for Dortmund to match.
Therefore, Die Schwarzgelben would only be able to offer the 29-year-old an annual salary of €8m. However, with future bonuses included in the contract, Sabitzer could see his deal rise to €10m a year, making him one of the top earners at the Westfalenstadion.
As previously reported surrounding Dortmund’s interest in Sabitzer, the Bayern midfielder currently has considerable competition in Bavaria and a move away looks likely despite being under contract until the summer of 2025. However, as reported by Patrick Berger and Kerry Hau, the Austrian still prefers a move to the Premier League.
This is due to Sabitzer not being completely convinced by Dortmund’s future aims and ambitions. Nevertheless, sporting director Sebastian Kehl is doing all he can to lure the Bayern man, as he considers Sabitzer to have the perfect profile for BvB, making him the top target at the club.
