Fulham are set to sign Ajax defender Calvin Bassey after agreeing a fee of around €21 million, according to The Athletic.
The 23-year-old joined the Dutch outfit last summer after impressing with Rangers.
Bassey did reasonably well for Ajax, averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 1.5 clearances per game.
His performances caught the attention of several clubs including Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Cottagers appear to have won the race for the young defender after agreeing to a €21 million fee with Ajax.
Fulham have not been active in the 2023 summer transfer window, but that is about to change with Bassey close to making a move to Craven Cottage.
He has proved his abilities in Scotland and the Netherlands but could take some time to adapt to the intensity of English football.
However, the Nigeria international looks to have all the qualities to excel in the Premier League and will likely be a huge success for the Cottagers.
It has been a difficult summer for Fulham, with manager Marco Silva and striker Aleksandar Mitrovic linked with moves elsewhere.
While Bassey would be a solid acquisition for the club, losing two key figures could impact their hopes of retaining their place in the Premier League.
