Bayern Munich have today confirmed that Raphaël Guerreiro sustained a muscle strain in his right calf in training on Saturday morning and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Guerreiro, who joined the Rekordmeister on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, will therefore not travel with the club for the Audi Summer Tour in Asia, where they will play in Japan and Singapore.
The Portuguese defender, who offers competition in central-midfield, is the second Bayern Munich player in 24 hours to be ruled out of their Asia tour after the club confirmed that Thomas Müller would also miss the trip due to a hip problem, and would instead train at the club’s Säbener Straße HQ.
As part of Bayern’s Asia trip, they will play friendlies against Manchester City (July 26), Kawasaki Frontale (July 29) and Liverpool (August 2).
While on their Asia tour, Bayern Munich are expected to begin negotiations with Manchester City for the transfer of Kyle Walker. The Englishman has already informed his club that he would like to join Bayern Munich. As reported yesterday, both clubs are expected to find an agreement around the €15m figure for Walker, who will sign a two-year contract with a possible extension by a further year.
