Following yesterday’s reports that Paris Saint-Germain had identified Atalanta striker Rasmus Højlund as a potential forward recruit, L’Équipe report this evening that the Ligue 1 champions have now entered talks to sign the Manchester United target.
The 20-year-old Danish international scored ten goals in his debut season with the Serie A side, having arrived last summer from Austria’s Sturm Graz. PSG’s Sporting Advisor Luís Campos has been keeping an eye on him for several seasons now, and has been in talks with the forward’s entourage in the last few weeks.
Despite reports of a potential offer from the Red Devils, the Premier League are said to be unlikely to be willing to meet Atalanta’s demands. The French side, meanwhile, are able to put the requested fee (more than €60m) on the table – although they will also be hoping to sell some players first of all.
Although PSG have been looking to sign a marquee forward this transfer window – not least given departure of Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappé potentially leaving as well – their options have been narrowed down. Randal Kolo Muani and Victor Osimhen are financially out of reach, Harry Kane’s arrival would be a difficult deal to complete, and there are concerns over Dušan Vlahović’s fitness.
