Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin close to joining Saudi Pro League club

Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin is reportedly very close to joining Saudi club Al-Ahli.

This is according to L’Equipe who report the Saudi Pro League side have launched a €25 million bid to sign the 26-year-old.

It is said that they are also negotiating a salary of more than €12m-per-year with the player.

The Magpies boss Eddie Howe recently confirmed Saint-Maximin is in talks over a move away from the club.

Newcastle are looking to raise funds for new signings by selling the Frenchman.

The ongoing Premier League summer window has seen them bring in midfielder Sandro Tonali for €70m from AC Milan. But there are other areas they need to improve as they aim to do well in the 2023-24 season.

Saint-Maximin joined the Tyneside club in 2019, and he has been an important squad player at St James’ Park.

So far, he has made 124 appearances in all competitions with 13 goals to his name.

The 26-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance at times but the injury issues have prevented him from making a huge impact.

Last season, he was limited to only 12 starts in the English top-flight due to a series of injury problems.

The left winger still has three years left on his contract at St James’ Park but he looks set to move to Saudi Arabia.

Several big names in football have joined the Pro League this summer, including the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Kalidou Koulibaly.
