PSG’s Xavi Simons (20) has been spotted at Leipzig airport ahead of finalising a loan move to the Bundesliga club. Sky Germany report that the one-year loan doesn’t include a purchase option.
Simons would become the second player RB Leipzig have signed from PSG in a matter of hours after the Bundesliga club earlier confirmed the signing of French defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu (18) for an initial €15m, with the player signing a long-term contract until 2028.
RB Leipzig and PSG maintain a good relationship with Christopher Nkunku another player that has made the switch in recent years.
After a successful loan spell at PSV which saw Simons score 19 goals in 34 Eredivisie games, PSG decided to exercise their €6m buy-back clause for the Dutch international. After a year at Leipzig, the French club will then reassess the player’s situation, which will depend on the futures of Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.
With the most goal-creating actions (33) in the Eredivisie last year for PSV, Simons is a significant transfer coup for RB Leipzig as they look to replace the output of Dominik Szoboszlai, who departed for Liverpool.
