Federico Chiesa pressuring Juventus to set him free

Wantaway Juventus forward Federico Chiesa has grown tired of Massimiliano Allegri playing him out of position and wants out.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 25-year-old has taken matters into his own hands by urging the Bianconeri to let him move away.

Three years since joining the record-time Serie A champions, Chiesa hopes to embark on a new career elsewhere after falling out of favour with Allegri.

He spent most of last season as a benchwarmer at the Allianz Stadium, but even when he played, the former AC Milan head coach was using him as a wing-back.

For a natural-born winger, the concept of handling a significant defensive burden is probably intolerable, not to mention occasional first-team opportunities.

Therefore, Chiesa is eager to halt his adventure in Turin and reignite his career ahead of the upcoming Euro 2024, where he hopes to play a prominent role if Italy’s qualification campaign goes well.

Juventus initially paid Fiorentina €7 million to sign the Italy international on loan in 2020 before dashing out an additional €40m to secure his services permanently the following year.

Chiesa’s contract runs out in 2025, which means the Italians can still recoup most of their investment if they opt for a sale this summer, with several Premier League clubs taking an interest in the winger.

Newcastle United and Liverpool have met the player’s agent to discuss a possible move, though both hypotheses now look highly improbable in light of the recent turn of events.

While the Reds forked out a substantial transfer fee to land Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig at the start of July, the Magpies launched an audacious bid for Napoli ace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on Monday.

Bayern Munich could be another potential landing spot for the Juventus forward.
