Manchester City have reportedly turned down Al-Ahli’s £18 million offer for Riyad Mahrez.
This is according to the Daily Mail who report the Citizens are awaiting an improved offer from the Saudi Pro League side.
The 32-year-old played a key role in helping Pep Guardiola’s side complete the continental treble last season.
He smashed 15 goals and provided 13 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions during the 2022-23 campaign.
But the winger is now said to be ready to end his seven-year stay at the Etihad Stadium as he has agreed personal terms with Al-Ahli.
It is said that a successful deal will see him receiving £43m-per-year plus bonuses for a two-year contract.
Mahrez joined City in 2018 from Leicester City in a deal worth £60m.
He has been an important member of the first-team squad, making over 230 senior appearances so far.
The Algeria international mainly plays on the right wing but he can also be deployed as a left winger or attacking midfielder.
Mahrez, who is highly-rated for his passing, through balls, crossing and finishing ability, has won four Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy during his time in Manchester.
He still has two years left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium but is willing to take a new challenge elsewhere.
City have rejected Al-Ahli’s £18m offer for the 32-year-old but an improved bid could see them change their mind.
They have already lost Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona in the ongoing English transfer window, while Kyle Walker also looks close to joining Bayern Munich.
