Fulham remain confident about signing Callum Hudson-Odoi

Premier League side Fulham are in talks to sign Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi. According to the Evening Standard, they remain confident about securing his signature.

The 22-year-old has decided to leave Chelsea and will not travel with the club as they tour the United States for their pre-season preparations.

Hudson-Odoi had a disappointing 2022/23 campaign after leaving the Blues for a one-year loan spell in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen. He scored only once and registered only one assist in 17 appearances for Die Werkself.

Leverkusen were unimpressed with Hudson-Odoi during the loan spell. They did not consider signing him permanently due to his paltry goal contributions and tendency to be inconspicuous during games.

The Cobham Academy graduate is looking for another place to settle. He might find another haven in the SW6 with Fulham keen on his signature.

The Cottagers missed out on Manor Solomon, who joined Tottenham Hotspur. They are looking for replacements and have turned their eyes to Hudson-Odoi.

Interestingly, Fulham are now closing in on the signature of Brazilian winger Willian, who left the club following the expiration of his one-year contract.

Willian now looks set to rejoin Fulham despite interest from Nottingham Forest. The former Chelsea attacker will pen a new one-year deal with the club.

Despite many predicting a relegation battle, Willian contributed five goals and five assists to help Fulham finish 10th in the Premier League last season.

Willian and Hudson-Odoi will compete for the left-wing position at the club. The latter will hope he can put behind a disappointing campaign to start delivering on the promise he showed as a youngster.

His early showings led Bayern Munich to bid twice for his services, but Chelsea held on to the talent. However, injuries have halted his development and interrupted his momentum.

Hudson-Odoi will need to get his career back on track and set himself back on the upward trajectory he was on.
