Inter Milan have reached an agreement to sign free agent Juan Cuadrado on a one-year deal, reports Sky Sport Italia.
The Colombian wing-back recently parted ways with Serie A rivals Juventus after his contract expired.
Cuadrado could have his medical tests on Tuesday, and Alfredo Pedulla reports that he will earn wages worth €2.5 million plus bonuses.
The 35-year-old has been one of the most important players for the Bianconeri, making 314 appearances as well as winning five consecutive Serie A titles from 2015/16 to 2019/20.
Cuadrado’s signing might incur some criticism due to Inter’s fierce rivalry with the Old Lady.
The Colombian full-back will compete with Denzel Dumfries at the right-wing back spot following the departure of Raoul Bellanova.
The Italian youngster moved to San Siro last summer on loan from Cagliari but struggled for playing time. He recently joined Torino on a permanent transfer.
Dumfries has also been linked with an exit this summer, but the interest from suitors appear to have cooled off.
With Cuadrado’s transfer, Inter will continue their trend of signing seasoned players either for free or for low cost, which has proved to be productive in recent years.
The Colombian could be the fourth arrival of this transfer window after Marcus Thuram, Davide Frattesi and Yann Bisseck.
Simone Inzaghi’s side are also actively looking for a goalkeeper and a striker.
Andre Onana is on the cusp of joining Manchester United, and Inter have identified Anatoliy Trubin and Yann Sommer as replacement options.
Meanwhile, Inter have also reportedly pulled out of the race to re-sign Romelu Lukaku, identifying Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun as his replacement.
