Brazilian midfielder Jean Lucas has returned to his homeland. Monaco have announced that the 25-year-old has signed for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A side Santos FC. The midfielder joined AS Monaco from Olympique Lyonnais in 2021 for a €11m transfer fee. In the span of two seasons with Les Monégasques, the 8-time Brazil international registered two goals and as many assists in 49 games played in all competitions.

Jean Lucas’ final campaign with AS Monaco won’t live long in the memory. He only clocked 369 minutes on the pitch, and was left out of Monaco’s senior squad last Autumn. His last competitive appearance was on October 23rd. Lucas has now signed a four-year deal with Santos FC. The defensive midfielder already donned the black and white jersey of Neymar’s formative club for a loan move from Flamengo in 2019.
