German U21 internationals Angelo Stiller and Yannik Keitel were self-critical after the team’s elimination from the group stage of the European Championship yesterday.

A miserable European Championship came to an end for Germany’s U21 side yesterday, as a 2-0 defeat to England sealed their elimination from the group stage with just one point from three games.

In a post-match interview, Angelo Stiller and Yannik Keitel admitted that the German team’ simply didn’t perform well enough.

“I don’t know if we had enough courage. If you look at the game, it was definitely not courageous, it was without heart. We have to do better,” Stiller said.

Keitel added:

“We definitely have to look at ourselves and get more points. I don’t know if it’s the sporting quality. Something was just missing.”
