Inter Milan have identified Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin as a potential replacement for Andre Onana, who has been heavily linked with an exit, reports Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Nerazzurri see Onana, who arrived on a free transfer from Ajax last year, as their bankable asset who can help them raise funds for new signings.
Premier League giants Manchester United are the frontrunners for the Cameroonian shot-stopper, and they are in continuous talks with Inter to get the deal over the line.
The Red Devils had reportedly offered €40 million for Onana, who has been lined up as the top replacement for David de Gea, but the Nerazzurri are holding out for no less than €50m plus bonuses.
Trubin has emerged as a potential target for the Champions League finalists in the event of Onana’s departure.
The Ukrainian shot-stopper guided Shakhtar to the 2022/23 league title, achieving league-high 14 clean sheets.
The 21-year-old has made 94 appearances for Shakhtar and also regularly featured in the Champions League over the years, facing the likes of Real Madrid, Borussia Monchengladbach and Leipzig, as well as Inter.
Trubin had previously met Nerazzurri in the 2020/21 Champions League, where he kept two clean sheets in both legs of the group stage, eventually preventing the Italians from qualifying for the next round.
The seven-capped Ukrainian shot-stopper has a contract running until 2024, and he is said to be not interested in extending it with Shakhtar.
Inter can easily afford Trubin with the sale of Onana, however, the Ukrainian youngster has also courted interest from Benfica.
Fellow Serie A outfit Udinese have also had a €6m bid turned down by Shakhtar for Trubin.
Inter have also shortlisted Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer and PSG’s Keylor Navas as potential goalkeeper targets.
