Official: Gündogan joins Barcelona

Germany international Ilkay Gündogan has joined FC Barcelona on a free transfer from Manchester City, where he was out of contract.

Germany midfielder Ilkay Gündogan has completed his transfer from Manchester City to FC Barcelona.


The 32-year-old, who was also linked with a return to Borussia Dortmund, has signed a contract until 2025 with the La Liga outfit.

Gündogan is coming off a treble-winning campaign with Manchester City, in which he captained the team.

He spent a total of seven years with the English club, amassing 60 goals and 40 assists in 304 appearances.

He has been capped 67 times by Germany, finding the back of the net 17 times.
