Antoine Griezmann says he wants to continue France career as long as possible

Despite the disappointment of missing out on the captaincy back in March, Antoine Griezmann has returned to form both at international and club level over the past season – even scoring within minutes on the first game back from the World Cup against The Netherlands.

Speaking at Les Bleus’ pre-match conference this afternoon before their Euro 2024 qualifier against Greece, the 32-year-old insisted that despite the initial frustration, he is set on continuing his international career for as long as possible. Griezmann, who was named Get French Football News’ best French player abroad this past season, will take to the field for his 78th consecutive game tomorrow night.

The Atlético Madrid man notably indicated that he was open to playing in both next summer’s Olympic Games in Paris as well as the Euros – in the same vein as Kylian Mbappé. Asked about whether he was planning on taking part in the World Cup in 2026 as well – at which point he will be 35 – the midfielder/forward explained that he had no intention of retiring from international football any time soon:

“They’ll have to take me out of the team themselves! […] You have to be at the right level as well – you might have the desire to be there but not be good enough. I want to go as far as possible and never stop.”
