Everton’s Jean-Philippe Gbamin (27) wants to return to Germany, according to a report by Bild.
Gbamin, currently on loan at Trabzonspor, has made just six Premier League appearances for Everton since his €25m move from Mainz in 2019. The Ivorian suffered a hamstring injury almost immediately which sidelined the player for 32 games, before Gbamin ruptured his achilles tendon, missing another 45 games before an MCL injury.
During his spell at Everton, Gbamin spent six months on loan at CSKA Moscow before joining Trabzonspor in the summer, where he’s played 24 games across all competitions.
Gbamin had a successful spell at Mainz where he played between 2016 and 2019, playing 95 games in all competitions, scoring three and creating four.
Gbamin isn’t the only former Mainz player looking for a return to Germany. With two goals in 29 Premier League games last season, Bild report that Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta would also like to return to Germany.
