Former FC Bayern München academy prospect and current Freiburg fullback Kimberley Ezekwem will jump up a division next season on loan with SC Paderborn 07 in the German second division.

SC Freiburg confirmed on Friday that they would park 21-year-old developmental prospect Kimberley Ezekwem with SC Paderborn 07 next season. The fullback was one of the key players who helped SC Freiburg II jump up to the 3. Liga last year. Widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the most recent 3. Liga campaign, the Munich-native helped guide SCF II to a second place finish in the third division table.
Paderborn personnel boss Benjamin Weber praised the youngster’s skills as both a fullback and wingback on a statement published on the club’s website. Ezekwem made his Bundesliga debut in a brief relief appearance against RB Leipzig on matchday 31. All told, SCF trainer Christian Streich selected the defender for four matchday squads.
