Manchester United and Brentford will vie for the signature of Christian Eriksen with Tottenham Hotspur now out of the picture, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian reporter made this known on the latest edition of the ‘Here we go!’ show on his youtube channel.
“The news I have in the last hours is pretty clear, he [Eriksen] is not a priority for Tottenham as of today,” said Romano.
“Tottenham had a conversation with his agent Martin Schoots a few weeks ago and after that conversation…no more talks so there is not an official bid from Tottenham.
“Manchester United, during the weekend, have confirmed to his agent the intention to sign Christian Eriksen – United told the player that they are really interested and will be ready with a contract proposal in case Eriksen is keen to join United this summer.
“Brentford guys, let me mention Brentford because it is true that his contract has expired but the player was really happy with the team, the manager, the atmosphere, and the fans so Brentford are still trying.
“They made a really good proposal to Eriksen and they are still waiting for him to answer on his future if he wants to continue or not; they know that it is complicated because Manchester United are on it but many clubs have approached Eriksen not just United.”
Both United and Brentford are yet to complete a Premier League transfer this summer and securing a deal for Eriksen as the first piece of business would help set the tone nicely for the remainder of the window.
Eriksen is a man in high demand and rightly so given how the Denmark international has rallied from a devastating heart attack which he suffered at the European Championship last summer to get back on top of his game again.
