Fabrizio Romano is reporting that AS Monaco are interested in bringing academy product Han-Noah Massengo (21) back to the club.
Massengo left Monaco to join Championship side Bristol City for €8m back in the summer of 2019. The France youth international spent the last half of this season on loan at Ligue 1 club AJ Auxerre. Despite shining in the club’s midfield, he couldn’t prevent their relegation to Ligue 2. FC Nantes’ final-day victory over SCO Angers condemned Auxerre to the drop with four teams going down into France’s second division this season.
Massengo won’t join Auxerre, nor will he return to Bristol City, as his contract at the Championship is expiring. Romano cites Burnley, Freiburg and Monaco as clubs interested in the Frenchman. Foot Mercato have previously linked recently-promoted Burnley with a move for the player. The Italian journalist adds that the race is open to Massengo, who has now become a free agent.
