In the wake of reports Kylian Mbappé sent a letter to Paris Saint-Germain to announce that he would not extend his contract past the end of next season, the French forward has catapulted back into the transfer limelight, amid growing reports that the Ligue 1 champions are now inclined to sell him.
Appearing before the press this afternoon while on France duty, Mbappé was duly asked about the reports – much to his annoyance, as he looked to steer the journalists’ questions towards Les Bleus’ match:
“I’ve already spoken about this, I’ve said that my objective is to stay at PSG, it’s my only option right now, I’m ready to come back for pre-season.”
Mbappé also denied that the letter in question had been sent in the last few days:
“The letter was not sent during the international break, it was sent before. Nothing surprises me anymore.”
Les Bleus will take on Gibraltar on Friday night in Faro, Portugal, before hosting Greece at the Stade de France on Monday as part of their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign. Mbappé had scored a double in the first match of the campaign back in March, against The Netherlands, in what was his first appearance as captain.
