Nico Elvedi is likely to leave Borussia Mönchengladbach this summer, Florian Plettenberg reports.
The Swiss international has informed Gladbach bosses that he will not extend his contract beyond June 2024. Gladbach are therefore likely to offload the central defender this summer rather than seeing him leave on a free next year.
The 26-year-old already has ‘interesting’ offers from teams in the Premier League and Serie A. It’s clear that Elvedi is after a new challenge and is possibly eager to take the next step in his career.
Elvedi joined Gladbach in 2015 from FC Zürich and has struggled for form over the past two seasons.
The Swiss is likely to be a number of players leaving Gladbach this summer. Other likely departures include Florian Neuhaus, Marcus Thuram, and Manu Koné. Should all of these players leave, new head coach Gerardo Seoane should have plenty of funds to spend on new recruits.
