Kylian Mbappe decides not to renew his contract with PSG

A shocking twist has emerged in the transfer saga of Kylian Mbappe, who is reportedly reluctant to commit his future with Paris Saint-Germain.

L’Equipe (h/t Marca) reports that Mbappe has informed Les Parisiens that he will not activate his one-year extension until 2025, meaning that he will become a free agent in 12 months.

PSG want to avoid such a scenario and are ready to part ways with him this summer to extract a transfer fee.

The report adds that Qatari owners, who previously cited Mbappe as the leader of the project and were determined to keep him at all costs, are now ready to move on from the French superstar.

Mbappe, as always, enjoyed a breathtaking 2022/23 campaign, racking up 41 goals in all competitions for PSG.

Above all, he finished as the Golden Boot winner at the 2022 World Cup.

However, he was unfortunate with the trophies, with PSG failing in the Champions League and France losing to Argentina in the finals of the Qatar World Cup.

Real Madrid have been perennial admirers of Mbappe, coming close to signing him in the summer of 2022 before Mbappe snubbed them at the last moment.

While it left a bad taste at first, Los Blancos have maintained their interest in the 24-year-old.

It has been rumoured that Madrid would go for Mbappe next summer, but his latest decision might prompt them to alter their plans.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men are actively looking for a successor to Karim Benzema, and Mbappe would be a perfect fit.

Mbappe’s potential departure means there is much to do for football advisor Luis Campos, who is already working on the replacement of Lionel Messi.

Meanwhile, Neymar has also been linked with a move away from the French capital following constant criticism from fans over his injury problems.
