Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg is currently reporting that Diego Demme has actually agreed to join recently relegated Bundesliga side Hertha BSC.

A major transfer coup for newly demoted 2. Bundesliga side Hertha BSC is apparently more than just an idle rumor. Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg now reports that the 31-year-old has reached a verbal agreement to kick in Charlottenburg next season. Demme – long since not much of a factor with Serie A champs S.S.C. Napoli – is reportedly happy to accept a major pay cut in order to return to the country of his birth.
The fact that Demme has sorted out his own contractual expectations with Hertha obviously does not mean that a transfer can actually be realized. The Italian champions will still seek a transfer fee for their seldom used defensive midfielder. Demme maintains an estimated market worth of €4 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. Hertha have many of their own sales to finalize before considering a large outlay.
❗️X News #Demme: He said YES to @HerthaBSC! There is a verbal agreement now!
➡️ Contract at least until 2026
➡️ He will reduce his salary as he only wants to join Hertha BSC
➡️ Bosses optimistic to finalize the deal in the next weeks. No agreement with Neapel yet.… pic.twitter.com/kUdy2faZ29
