RB Leipzig are preparing a second push for Liverpool forward Fabio Carvalho after their initial bid for the 20-year-old was rejected, reports Kicker.
Leipzig originally had a bid rejected by Liverpool with the offer deemed ‘ridiculous’. Liverpool would prefer a loan or if they are to sell Carvalho it would be with a buyback clause, which would be seen as a novelty for Leipzig.
Carvalho’s contract at Liverpool expires in 2027 so would likely take a large bid to convince Liverpool to allow the Portuguese youth international to leave permanently.
It is looking increasingly likely that Carvalho will leave Liverpool on loan in the summer but Leipzig faces competition from other Premier League clubs who are also reportedly interested in the 20-year-old. Carvalho has rarely featured for Liverpool since his move from Fulham last summer with the majority of his appearances being cameos off of the bench.
Leipzig are clearly in the process of succession planning. The departure of Christopher Nkunku and the future of Dominik Szoboszlai still unknown means Leipzig are looking to boost their attacking options. As well as interest in Carvalho, Leipzig are close to completing the signing of Hoffenheim attacking midfielder Christoph Baumgartner.
