Gerardo Seoane has been confirmed as the new head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The 44-year-old former Bayer Leverkusen boss has signed a three-year contract and replaces the recently dismissed Daniel Farke.
“Gerardo Seoane has worked successfully for several clubs in recent years. He’s a young coach, but one with a lot of experience,” said Gladbach managing director for sport Roland Virkus.
“He plays the style of football we want to see here. We’re happy to have him as our new head coach at Borussia Mönchengladbach.”
In addition to the decision to appoint a new head coach, Gladbach announced a change in the club’s management structure.
Nils Schmadtke, most recently chief scout at Wolfsburg, will fill the new position of sporting director.
Dr. Philipp Schützendorf (41), previously head of analysis at Borussia, will become head of development, which includes talent development and video and data analysis.
“With these changes, we will cover more bases in the future,” Virkus said of the decision.
“Nils Schmadtke will take over the organization of the first team and will be part of the management team alongside myself and [director of scouting and squad planning] Steffen Korell. With Philipp Schützendorf leading the development team after our restructuring, we are looking for sustainable improvements in our first team and academy talents.”
