As reported by the Daily Mail, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are among the clubs interested in Chicago Fire teenager Brian Gutiérrez.
The 19-year-old is currently contracted to the Fire until the end of 2026. This means that Leipzig and Dortmund would need to enter a bidding war for Gutiérrez, however, they would have to contend with Manchester United and Rangers who are also monitoring his situation.
The US under-20 international has already made 74 appearances for Chicago Fire despite being only 19 years of age, which has led to murmurs around a potential senior international call-up. Gutiérrez is currently in his fourth season with Chicago Fire where he has already featured 15 times so far this campaign.
Gutiérrez’s rise to prominence in the Chicago side could be due to his versatility in the midfield. He has featured in almost every position in the middle third whether that be as a ten, eight or a six.
While Manchester United and Rangers may challenge for his signature, they do face the restrictions of having to seal a work permit which could prove to be difficult. This would, therefore, be beneficial for Leipzig and Dortmund who can bring Gutiérrez into the side straight away rather than loaning him back out to earn game time.
